WanderCollections

WanderCollections offers a powerful and flexible collection management platform. It's a web-based solution that grows effortlessly with your needs, whether you're working in a library, archive, museum, heritage institution, or documentation center.

Our software consists of smart building blocks, modules that you choose and combine yourself. This way, your system remains organized and you only pay for what you really need.

WanderCollections can do a lot

And you decide which building blocks you need.

Reachable anytime, anywhere

WanderCollections is completely web-based and works in standard browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Edge. All you need is an internet connection, no complicated installations, except for a PDF reader and a small web application to control your ticket printer, for example.

Always up to date

The software is centrally hosted and managed. Updates and bug fixes happen automatically, without the intervention of local staff. Thanks to the central software repository, improvements are rolled out quickly and consistently across all systems.

Smartly integrated

WanderCollections consciously opts for integration with open standards and open source components. This way, connections with other internet services remain simple and flexible. In addition, the system supports APIs and Linked Data, providing powerful connectivity and interchangeability.

Multilingual and accessible

With built-in translation tables WanderCollections is multilingual and perfectly matches the language of your users, no matter where they are. This is how collection management becomes truly universal.

User friendly and menu-driven

The intuitive menu structure and clear navigation bars make working with WanderCollections easy. Pages are presented as well-organized webforms. In addition, menus and forms can be adapted to the specific needs of your institution so that you always work in an environment that feels familiar.

From order to budget: everything under control

With Wander's acquisition module, you can effortlessly manage your budgets, suppliers and orders. You place orders for books and journals and track subscriptions through clear publishing and frequency patterns. This way, you know exactly what issue is expected when, clearly and efficiently.

Archives and heritage, described in detail

With this archives module you describe your archives according to international standards such as ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF). Wander supports EAD and EAC formats for exchanging records and authorities. Documents such as manuscripts, photographs, letters, audiovisual material and registers can be recorded separately via data models based on heritage standards and art objects such as SPECTRUM and CDWA. You can easily connect them to archive descriptions and export them in various export formats such as Dublin Core. The module for item descriptions can also be used separately from archival descriptions and is then perfect for managing heritage collections.

Certainty in descriptions

Wander supports authorities for entities such as people, organizations, geographical terms, subjects, and domain-specific terminology such as the Art & Architecture Thesaurus® (AAT®). This way, your database remains consistent, reliable and easily searchable. In an archival context, more fields become visible so that authorities based on the ISAAR standard are possible and you are always working in accordance with international guidelines.

Asset management

Whether it's audiovisual material, psychological test materials, 3D printers or workstations, Wander allows you to describe these assets in a tailored form. Just like for books, these assets can be offered in a comprehensive catalog with the option to reserve them for use in the future.

Smart description, according to your needs

With Wander's cataloging module you can describe your library materials: from old books to audiovisual media. And that in accordance with international standards such as RDA. You create a description “from scratch” or you copy an existing description from another library in the Wander network or outside. You can easily import and export via XML (including MARC21 and MODS) or SQLite.

Using the Cometa model, subsets of your library collection can be described in the collection descriptions module. Collection descriptions are linked to specific copies, providing additional context or a new look at your collection.

Digital collections, visible to everyone

Have you digitized (part of) your collection? Then Wander offers a digital platform to support your digitization process. The end result are customized IIIF manifestos that help your target audience to easily discover or study your collection. This is how your heritage or knowledge collection comes to life, online, accessible and user-friendly.

Control over digital collections

More and more libraries do not manage physical materials, but offer access to digital resources through licensing from publishers and agents. Wander's ERM module helps you to manage those licensing agreements and electronic publications in a clear way so that you can focus on what really matters: providing access to knowledge.

Smart communication, from team to end user

With the helpdesk and info desk from Wander, you can effortlessly streamline communication. The helpdesk connects your team with the Wander team, while the info desk forms the bridge between your employees and end users. Both work in the same intuitive way: questions come in via a form or email, are automatically registered and managed centrally. The administrator can follow up, reply or forward each message to a colleague. Meanwhile, the sender is automatically informed about the status of their request.

Loan management tailored to your library

With the loan module from Wander, you can manage loans, renewals and returns easily and efficiently. You send reminders via mail, email, and fines are calculated automatically. Each library can tailor the module to its own policy. Thanks to the SIP2 protocol, Wander also works smoothly with self-service terminals.

Smart space and storage management

With Wander, you can register and manage stacks and shelves. You get a clear overview of available free space and can optimally organize your storage. Thanks to the intuitive interface, you can quickly and reliably find the right repository or item you are looking for. This module is already operational for archives and heritage systems and will soon also be available for libraries.

Search the collection, your way

In the public catalog provided by Wander can search both physical and digital collections. You can search in a targeted way, compile your own extensive queries, or browse the different collection types that Wander supports.

My Library: your users, their own digital space

With My Library give your end users a personal online environment. Via their own login, they can:

  • review and renew their loans;
  • make reservations;
  • request publications (including from other libraries);
  • make requests from the stacks;
  • manage alert profiles;
  • and amend their personal information.

Everything simple, safe and user-friendly. Exactly how they expect it.
